How professionals pack glassware, TVs and antiques for a damage-free shift.
The 5-layer packing standard
Professional movers use a 5-layer system for fragile items: bubble wrap → foam sheet → corrugated roll → stretch film → double-walled carton. Each layer absorbs a specific type of shock — vibration, impact, moisture and compression.
Glassware & crockery
Wrap each piece individually in bubble wrap. Fill the carton with crumpled paper so nothing shifts. Stack plates vertically like records, never flat. Mark the carton FRAGILE + THIS SIDE UP on all four sides.
TVs, monitors and screens
The original box is best. If you don't have it, use a flat-screen TV moving box with foam corners. Never lay a TV flat during transport — always upright, screen facing inward against a padded surface.
Antiques and artwork
Wooden crating is worth the extra cost for anything irreplaceable. For framed art, tape a large X across the glass to stop cracks from spreading, then wrap in bubble and cardboard.
Mirrors and marble tops
Always transport vertically, sandwiched between two rigid boards. Label MIRROR clearly so the loading crew knows to keep it upright.
